On Wednesday, Tom Skinner, congressional assistant to Representative Zoe Lofgren, visited the classes with Dr. Jonathan Lovell, the SJAWP director, to meet the teachers and observe the students at work.

In Writing for Causes, students were working on group action projects.

In My Culture, My Story, My Hero, students shared their work with Tom.

Tom visited Crafting a Voice at break time; some students wanted to stay in and work on their writing.

In Building a Choice, Tom joined a lesson called Hero’s Journey, in which students were drafting letters on their journey as writers.

The San Jose Area Writing Project is grateful to Tom, not only for his attentive conversations with our writers, but also for advocacy for SJAWP at the federal level.
